South Farnham School to represent Aldershot FC and Chelsea at Wembley
Congratulations to South Farnham School football teams!
Congratulations to the boys team from South Farnham School, who by winning the National League Trust South of England tournament in March, will be representing Aldershot Town FC at Wembley!
On Tuesday 19th March, eight Year 6 pupils represented the school and Aldershot Football Club in the National League Trophy South Finals. The boys showed incredible talent and teamwork to make it out of the group stage with 2 wins and a draw. This led them into the Semi Finals and, after a comfortable 2-0 win, made it to the main final. After a tense 12-minute match, the game finished with a penalty shoot-out. The boys held their nerve in sudden death and progressed to the main final. They will be representing Aldershot and the South of England against a team from the North of England at Wembley Stadium on the 5th of May. Well done to all the boys involved in this achievement.
Another team are off to Wembley to represent Chelsea in the National Premier League Primary Stars competition.
This Spring term, a group of Year 5 and Year 6 girls and boys represented the school in the Primary Stars football tournament. Both teams successfully made it through the first round of qualifications to play at Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham. Both teams made it out of the group stage and into the semi-finals. The boys won the whole tournament with a 2-0 extra-time win. This means the boys will now represent Chelsea at the national finals later this term.
Both teams should be extremely proud of their teamwork, sportsmanship, team spirit and should be extremely proud of all their efforts.
